Our goal is to make digital technologies more sustainable as a whole. We at windCORES are therefore dedicating ourselves to several topics at once in order to further think about climate-neutral, energy-efficient, future-oriented IT. One focus is the area of High Performance Computing (HPC).
The presentation of these research projects funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) will be here shortly.
The project develops an infrastructure for HPC distributed on wind turbines, which ensures a high quality of service in a resource-efficient way. It explores the design of the IT and systems engineering as well as the energetic and thermal operational management of the server systems in a wind farm.

The joint project C‑ray4edge is concerned with the multi-layered protection of the currently emerging edge infrastructures. These infrastructures are increasingly taking on critical tasks, such as in autonomous driving or in the industrial IoT (Internet of Things). In doing so, however, they are often located in shared, incompletely secured operating environments in which their physical integrity is only inadequately protected against hardware Trojans, for example.

WindHPC pursues the goal of making simulation-based problems more sustainable. This is to be achieved by using ecological computing resources, increasing the efficiency of the software and optimizing workflows. For this purpose, HPC resources in wind turbines are combined with a supercomputing center.
